Jute

Jute is a luxury interior design studio founded in 2009 by Ali Davin, with studios in San Francisco and Santa Monica. Working on residential and commercial projects, the practice specializes in new builds and remodels. Its work includes Carmel seaside escapes, San Francisco family homes, and Sonoma County wineries. Davin brings an art-centered perspective and a love of antiques to the studio, following an early career at the J. Paul Getty Museum and Bonham’s auction house.

Jute’s approach centers on wellness, comfort, and a connection to nature. Interiors combine bespoke furnishings, handmade details, antiques, and carefully chosen one-of-a-kind pieces, with an emphasis on natural materials, responsible methods, and artisanal techniques. The studio considers how people inhabit each space, aiming for homes that feel welcoming, restful, and functional while prioritizing longevity. Services include whole-home interior design, drafting and space planning for new construction, custom millwork, cabinetry, furniture, and lighting design. Jute also sources art, antiques, and distinctive objects, and advises clients on natural materials, mindful building, and nontoxic design.
